The Andhra Pradesh High Court has today rejected to give 4% reservations of the entire Muslim community. The court while giving the judgment reminded that reservations based upon religion is not allowed according to the Indian constitution. It also reminded that various downtrodden castes like 'Dudekulu' among Muslims are already getting reservations under the BC category and advised the government to include more downtrodden Muslim castes if they want under this category.
Meanwhile the Congress leaders belonging to the Muslim community have announced that they would file a petition in the Supreme Court.
One the other hand the TRS party speaking on this judgment have announced that they are still sticking to their promise of 12% reservations to Muslims if separate Telangana is given. When asked on how they plan to implement the 12% reservation since the court is reluctant to let even 4% reservation, the leaders fumbled and said that they would discuss the issue with legal experts.
