The prime accused in the murder of Vaishnavi, Venkat Rao has been arrested. He has been absconding since the last many days. The police allege that it is he who was the main conspirator in the murder of Vaishnavi. He has been produced before the district magistrate and sent to judicial remand. It is also revealed that the government appointed Khaja Moinuddin to be the defense attorney of the accused persons.

Vijayawada commissioner Mr Reddy, narrating the details of the girl's kidnap and the driver murder since January 30, said due to family disputes, the abductors had killed the car driver and later Vaishnavi was kidnapped and murdered.

Thereafter, the girl's body was dumped in a boiler-cum-furnace in an uncivilised manner in Autonagar Guntur, he added.

Strongly condemning the incident, the Police Commissioner said the police department would not rest till the abductors were punished severely as per the law and added that cases were registered against them under crime no 56/10 U/S 302, 364 read with 34 IPC by the Satyanarayanapuram Police who are investigating the case.

He said the case will be transferred to fast track court for speedy trial.

The police had seized two four-wheeler and two two-wheeler from the kidnappers, he added.
